The Bridge of Pittsburgh Youth Advisory Board
The Bridge of Pittsburgh Youth Advisory Board provides all Bridge members the opportunity to have their voices heard among staff, peers, and partners. As a member of the Youth Advisory Board, each youth is given the opportunity to offer suggestions for groups, field trips, speakers, etc, as well as to talk about concerns they may have or new policies they wish to discuss. The following youth have chosen to be a part of the Youth Advisory Board at the Bridge of Pittsburgh:
Brian Scott – Brian is leading the Youth Advisory Board at the Bridge. He graduated from Langley High School in 2007 and is currently enrolled in Juvenile Justice classes at CCAC. He hopes to attend the University of Pittsburgh next year and continue his education in the area of Social Work.
Lolitta Irvin – Lolitta is currently studying for her GED at the Bridge of Pittsburgh. After obtaining her GED, she hopes to go to college and get a good job. She believes that her participation in the Youth Advisory Board at the Bridge will help her to turn her life around as well as give her more of a voice among her peers.
Kara Schidek – Kara is currently studying for her GED at the Bridge of Pittsburgh and after obtaining her GED, she hopes to enroll in college and find a good job.
Keith Young – Keith is currently enrolled in the GED program at the Bridge of Pittsburgh. He recently obtained his Culinary Arts certification from Pittsburgh Job Corps. After completing his GED work, Keith hopes to continue his education in social work in order to be able to give back to youth in the CYF system.
